Sporting events
We support various initiatives in the Twente region, including several sporting events. Here, everyone can participate at their own level. Our special appreciation goes to the volunteers who work to make these events happen. Looking out for each other, also known in Twente as ‘noaberschap’ (neighbourly support), is at the basis of our commitment here.
For several years, we have sponsored various sporting events. Besides getting people moving, sporting events also provide an opportunity for people to connect and feel a sense of pride.
The participants take pride in their achievements, pushing boundaries, overcoming injuries and achieving personal records.
The volunteers also deserve recognition for their months of commitment during preparation and their hard work during the events, ranging from organising the races to first aid and from traffic control to building fences. Everyone contributes to the success of the event.
Events we look forward to with great pride include the Diepe Hel Holterbergloop run, the Wiezoloop run, the Holten Avond4Daagse four-day marches, Special Sport Events Twente, YU MAN Race and the Triathlon in Holten. These events annually attract thousands of athletes from across the region and further afield and they are open to a diverse audience: from elite athletes and recreational athletes to corporate teams and people with disabilities, regardless of age. Rijssen on Ice is another great example of an event for a wide audience. This event is also made possible by the efforts of local entrepreneurs and volunteers and offers plenty of ice skating fun in the centre of Rijssen over the Christmas period.
