Reggeborgh inline skating clinics

Since 2019, we have been giving inline skating clinics at primary schools across the Netherlands. In a playful and professional way, we get children excited to take up inline skating or rollerblading. We do this because we believe it is important for every child to have the opportunity to engage in sports.

Learning to skate from pros

The clinics are organised for primary school groups 5, 6, 7 and 8, i.e. for children aged between 8 and 12. Under the guidance of professional instructors, children learn the basics of inline skating. How to make a turn. How to brake. And what you need to be able to skate safely. One of the pupils enthusiastically says: ‘We had to slalom around pawns and make elephant ears. I couldn't do it at first, but now I can!’ Jenning de Boo, speed skater at Team Reggeborgh continued: ‘Everyone participated in the clinic very enthusiastically. When we did some racing, they went really fast. It’s great that through these clinics we can get kids excited about the sport.’

Safety first

Children learn how to skate safely during the clinic. A helmet is very important, but knee, elbow and wrist guards are also useful. The Reggeborgh Skatebus takes all the equipment, including skates, to the schoolyard or inline skating track.

More than 120 schools visited

The regular team of trainers, led by former pro speed skater Monique Roosenboom, has already hosted clinics for more than 120 schools. ‘From the start in 2019, I have been involved in the inline skating clinics. Pupils are taught in a playful but also instructive way, where we put safety and fun first. And the nice thing is that really anyone can participate!’ says Monique. We organise the clinics annually in the months of April to June and in September and October.
