Top medical technology talents set to work to improve specialist care in Twente
The MST (Medisch Spectrum Twente) hospital, the ZGT (ZiekenhuisGroep Twente) hospital and the Reggeborgh Foundation have joined forces to invest in the development of Twente as a top technology region. The result is a unique partnership in the Netherlands between two top hospitals and a socially committed international company. This week, four researchers started the Reggeborgh Research Fellowship: a three-year research programme for top medical technology talent in Twente.

Talented technical physicians carry out applied scientific research at one of Twente's top hospitals. The research fellows investigate practical innovative solutions to improve hospital care.
Top talents get to work
Mattiènne van der Kamp, Dieuwke van Dartel, Emilie Klaver and Jaimy Simmering started this customised training and development programme this week. During their fellowship, they are not only supervised individually within their research, but also follow a joint coaching programme so that they can further develop professionally.
Mirre de Noo, managing director of Reggeborgh Medical: ‘The fellowship offers talented researchers a unique position to be coached within their area of expertise by professionals as well as entrepreneurs and to start working within the two top hospitals in Twente.’
Top technology region of Twente
Ad Claassen, board chairman for medical staff at ZGT and surgeon: ‘The demand for healthcare is increasing, resources are limited and in Twente, too, we face a shrinking workforce. Healthcare faces a big task. It needs to be smarter and more innovative. It has to be different. Medical technology can help. Science and innovations contribute to the quality, availability and affordability of medical care. In Twente, we are making a difference by investing in healthcare, technological innovation and talented young people with this fellowship. That's good for healthcare, for our patients and for Twente.’
MST board member Miriam Vollenbroek-Hutten adds: ‘Medical technology innovations enable faster diagnostics, more complex procedures and remote healthcare. With the fellowship, we can continue to provide high-quality and innovative healthcare to patients in the region now and in the future.’
