Reggeborgh to sponsor speed skating team through to 2030
RIJSSEN – Reggeborgh Foundation will continue to be the main sponsor of the speed skating team through to the 2030 Olympics. The news was announced today at the World Sprint and Allround Speed Skating Championships in Inzell. The contract with Gerard van Velde's team has been extended by four years. ‘We are extremely happy. It offers a lot of prospects for the future. We can now continue to build on the plans for our team,’ said head coach Gerard van Velde.

Reggeborgh got into speed skating in 2018 as the main sponsor of Van Velde's sprint team that included Ronald and Michel Mulder. The long-track speed skating team has since grown into a sprint and allround team of 16 speed skaters, including Kjeld Nuis, Femke Kok, Patrick Roest and Jenning de Boo. Since this season, the sponsorship is managed by the Reggeborgh Foundation.. The Foundation's Inge Wessels explains why the contract has been extended for another four years. ‘We once started out of love for the sport of ice skating. We grew up ice skating at home. The good click we felt from the first moment with coach Gerard van Velde and team manager Henk Schra also played a role,’ Wessels says.
‘Together, we have grown into a strong team and have been able to create a good foundation. We are extremely proud of our team and that’s why we will continue.’

Reggeborgh Foundation is not just about achieving good results, it also believes it is important for speed skaters to get involved in good causes and have an eye for the world around them. Wessels: ‘We think that is important. Of course, we want to win, but social commitment is one of our core values. So our speed skaters also dedicate themselves to charities like the Jarige Job foundation and Villa Joep and teach inline skating clinics for children.’
Team manager Henk Schra, together with Van Velde, has been involved with the team from the beginning. ‘We have been able to build and expand the team step by step thanks to Reggeborgh's unconditional support. It’s nice to see where we are now. The good results are proof. We are extremely pleased that the Reggeborgh Foundation will continue to be our main sponsor until 2030. They are a very committed sponsor. We can only be proud of this great partnership.’
