Reggeborgh Foundation supports judoka Jelle Snippe
Reggeborgh Foundation will support judoka Jelle Snippe. The foundation has launched a new initiative called 'Green Apples' and is pleased to welcome Jelle Snippe as its first 'Green Apple'. The heavyweight will be able to count on financial support for his career in elite sports. Reggeborgh will also make professional knowledge and expertise available.

For Enschede-born Snippe, who competes in the heavyweight class, this partnership with Reggeborgh is not his first acquaintance with the Foundation. ‘I’ve been in contact with Reggeborgh since 2016. Back then, I was already sponsored by them. Now I get to be the first ‘Green Apple’, which of course I’m very happy about. The support combined with the personal commitment and passion for sport from Reggeborgh Foundation is something you don't often come across; it motivates me enormously.’
Snippe, who at 113 kg is a lightweight among heavyweights, made a big leap to establish himself among the world’s best in 2023 with a Grand Slam victory in Turkey and a bronze medal at the European Championships in Baku. The Paris Olympics beckon, even if the battle for that one Olympic ticket is not yet settled.
Reggeborgh Foundation is known in the sporting world for its own speed skating team, which achieved great success last season. With the Green Apples programme, the Foundation is going to add a branch to it.
‘With this new initiative, we want to further help young adult individual athletes and para-athletes who dream of success at national or international level. In doing so, we look not only at sporting ambitions, but also at the person behind the athlete.’
- Inge Wessels
The partnership between Snippe and Reggeborgh Foundation goes beyond sponsoring the judoka. The Foundation is socially driven and believes it is important that athletes they support have an eye for the world around them. ‘For example, Jelle is going to work for Reggeborgh Foundation charities and teach judo clinics at primary schools and sports clubs. This way, he can again pass on his experience to the upcoming generation of athletes,’ Wessels concluded.
