Middle-distance runner Loes Kempe gets support from Reggeborgh Foundation

Loes Kempe (19) of the Altis Amersfoort athletics club will be able to count on support from Reggeborgh Foundation starting this summer. The middle-distance runner has been added to the Green Apples programme, along with judoka Jelle Snippe, wheelchair tennis player Maarten ter Hofte, athlete Max Swabedissen and triathlete Aniek Mars. This is how Reggeborgh Foundation supports talented athletes and para-athletes.

An athlete for ten years now, Kempe trains at the Altis athletics club, where global athletics phenomenon Femke Bol is also a member. That Kempe is a great talent was confirmed once again recently in Belgium when she ran the time that earned her a ticket to the World Championships. She ran the 3,000 metres in 9h16’35”, the sixth fastest time of all time, qualifying for the World Athletics U20 World Championships, to be held in Lima from 26 to 31 August. ‘My dream was always to compete in international tournaments. I’ve now succeeded in that. My next goal will be to run my best race ever at the World Championships. Reggeborgh Foundation's support helps me a lot in this regard. I can now take my training and competition plan to an even higher level, and the fact that I get to be one of Reggeborgh's Green Apples gives extra energy.’

Kempe can count on a road bike provided by Reggeborgh Foundation, which she can use to ramp up her endurance training. She will also receive financial support to go on training camps and altitude training, and will be able to draw on the Foundation's knowledge and expertise.

‘Sport is an important part of my life. Therefore, I would also love to inspire children to go running or choose another sport.’

- Loes Kempe

Inge Wessels of Reggeborgh Foundation is proud of the latest addition. ‘It’s great to see how Loes Kempe has already developed. How nice it is when, as a 19-year-old, you see a dream come true and can participate in the World Championships in Peru, where you will be among the very best in the world. We are happy to support that ambition and drive through our Green Apples programme. The fact that Loes is surrounded by skilled trainers, who guide her properly, gives us a lot of confidence in the journey she is on. In addition, we see in her a good ambassador to inspire young people to take up sports,’ Wessels said.

Green Apples

Reggeborgh Foundation is known in the sporting world for the Reggeborgh speed skating team, which has achieved great success in recent years. Gymnast Sanne Wevers and hand cyclist Jennette Jansen are also supported by Reggeborgh Foundation on their way to the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. In the medical field, the Foundation supports top talents with the Reggeborgh Research Fellowship training and development programme. This programme gives talented technical physicians the opportunity to research and implement innovations in healthcare. They also develop entrepreneurial skills within Reggeborgh. With the Green Apples programme, the Foundation has added a branch. Under this programme, young adult sporting talents are supported so that they can focus fully on their sporting careers. As part of the programme, the athletes will, in turn, commit to Reggeborgh Foundation’s charities and teach clinics at primary schools and sports clubs. In this way, they pass on their life experiences to new generations of athletes.
