Maarten ter Hofte continues to climb the world rankings
After the Paris Paralympics, Green Apple Maarten ter Hofte continues to climb the World Rankings in Wheelchair Tennis. In the singles, he has risen from 60th to 25th place in the world. According to Maarten, reaching the top 10 is just around the corner.

This rise is the result of a strong start earlier this year, during which he won several tournaments. Thanks to significant progress in his development, he recently competed with his doubles partner, Ruben Spaargaren, at the World Championships hosted in their home country. They played against Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid, the world’s number 1 and 2, and offered impressive resistance against the seemingly unbeatable duo.
The fact that such a major tournament was closer to home than usual, and that family and friends could come to watch made it extra special.
Maarten ter Hofte is experiencing a special period. His weekly schedule provides structure: five days of training, one day of school, and a tennis match on Saturday. This balance provides him with the stability to continue growing.

His participation in the Paralympics in Paris was a unique experience. Despite a last-minute qualification, Maarten made the most of the opportunity. The larger courts, the audience, and the entire atmosphere made the tournament unforgettable. Thanks to his growth, he can now play more matches, discover new places, and worry less due to the financial support of the Reggeborgh Foundation. The broad network of the Reggeborgh Foundation also provides opportunities for development outside of sports.
Maarten remains focused on intensive training, competing in tournaments, and achieving his major goal: qualifying for the Games in four years in Los Angeles, USA.
